This one was a 300 wm but I just had Matt Whaley rechamber it to 300wsm. I swapped the scope to a Nightforce SHV and shot a cow elk at 498 yards with it a few weeks later.

What's the reasoning for going from 300 WM to WSM? I'm not knocking you. I'm just curious.

That's pretty much what I imagined. Longer seating depth and better magazine fit. I didn't know if there was a subjective reason for the switch.

Luke nailed it. I switched to the short mag because I stopped carrying my rifle with a round in the chamber which really sucks when they don't fit in the magazine either.

Do the t3x's have issues with the 7mm Rem mag cartridge too? Or is this a 300 Win mag problem mostly?

theres no problems per se with the 300 win. Tikka has a short COAL with long actions cartridges. They also use 1:11 twist for .30 cal and 9.5 twist for 7mm. But, considering the short Coal, you won’t be using long bullets that require fast twist in factory form most likely.

tikka 6.5saum with a Rock Creek #5 and break. Opened up the factory stock to fit the barrel and glass bed. Its a hammer. As a shameless plug, I have a manners for a tikka and some matching bottom metal for sale in the classifieds.

How do you like the Bushnell? LRHS? Or LRTS? I’m on the fence about getting one.

My superlite t3x in 300 win mag, b&c stock, mountain tactical bottom metal, Lumley bolt handle and CF knob, LRI bolt fluting, topped with a Vx3i 3.5-10x40 CDS. May end up rebarreling to 300 wsm to get away from mag length issues.

Tikka superlight 300 win mag - I see absolutely nothing wrong with the factory T3X stock BUT I have a manners on backorder from Stocky's (stocky's tech support tells me they are drop in) - I have a Stocky's Carbon Bush Hunter now and they ARE NOT drop in - decently finished stock but a bit challenging for a Tikka due to the magazine system (but I'm getting it as time allows) Carbon Bush Hunter feels good and is quite a bit cheaper - I put my superlight 6.5 CM in the Bush Hunter, with the barrel shortened to 21" it makes a very nice package - VX3 3.5 x 10 x 40mm with custom dots makes it a VERY nice shooter as well - FYI, I use Mountain Tactical aluminum rail and Leupold "rifleman" rings on all the Tikkas and have had 00 issues whatsoever after 100's of rounds and rough & tumble hunts
