Finally getting my tikka put together. Just doing barrel break in, getting used to the chassis and getting excellent results with cheaper federal ammo. This is my first chassis and I’m really pleased with it.

Tikka t3x stainless veil alpine action in 270wsm
Oversized bolt handle
Fluted bolt
Cerakoted action / barrel
24” barrel
Standard muzzle brake (I have an aftermarket one but this one made the rifle easy kicking)
XLR element 3.0 chassis (putting folding stock on this week)
Caldwell bipod in pic (forgot the sandbags when heading up, luckily this was in my range bag)
Vortex pro rings
Vortex intrepid 4.5-22x50 scope (still looking for the right scope so this is on for now-but it works/tracks great).

How’s it shoot? I have a 25creed ordered from preferred barrel blanks. And what is the weight/what does that sporter contour look like compared to factory? I think I ordered a #2 sporter

More tikka porn, liking this gun a lot and it seems to really like the 156s I built it for. Need to get the bolt off to be fluted and get it cerakoted otherwise it’s ready for action

Awesome build. Beware cerakoting the bolt. My experience is that it can make an otherwise smooth bolt sticky. Karl Feldkamp does great job on fluting.

That looks awesome! I just had Karl flute a bolt and cerakote the knob and shroud (not the bolt body). He does great work. It looks super and is as smooth as it ever was.

I’m building a T3X lite that I bought a new couple years ago in 300wm. I decided to keep the same caliber and ordered a McMillan A5 stock, carbon6 sendero, and mountain tactical DBM along with a few other little things. I ordered the stock and barrel first and called mountain tactical about which bottom metal I needed to get just to be sure. Unfortunately the rep misunderstood my build and told me I needed to order the AICS LA bottom metal but needed to make sure the stock was inletted for the CTR DBM. It took me by surprise but his confidence was reassuring enough to not question him. I called MCMillan that same day and had them change to the inlet to CTR. Fast forward to a month ago when everything arrived, it was quickly evident that the CTR inlet is much wider than the factory T3X and T3X AICS conversion DBM. I called MCMillan and Mountain Tactical and was told the easy fix would be to just swap the AICS DBM with the CTR, so I did. I quickly learned the CTR is short action only...thus not working for my 300wm setup. So I definitely learned not to take advice without confirming, but was still left with a setup that wouldn’t work for me. Soon I’ll be re-swapping the CTR bottom metal back for the original AICS conversion and will be posting the A5 for sale (ordered a GreyBoe Phoenix in its place due to the shorter wait time). All the same, this has been a fun build that taught me a lot and I look forward to posting complete in about a month. If interested in the MCMillan stock, original stock/bottom plastic, or original barrel, please let me know and we can work out a reasonable deal.

I’ve had LRI do a couple Tikkas now, and they come back as smooth as ever. I wouldn’t let the average Joe coat a bolt, but it can certainly be done without degrading performance.

I also have one coated by LRI and one from Hca, the LRI rifle near as smooth as stock. The other is pretty gummy.

Id let lri coat another tikka for me. In fact I’d like to have the current coating taken off the HCA rifle and have it recoated if that’s even possible. Maybe the next barrel

I am currently doing a build just about identical to this for a buddy right now also. All you really need is the magnum bolt face. The bolt stop is easily changed out and so are the mags. I found a cheap stainless T3 in 7 Rem mag that will be getting reconfigured to the 6.5PRC but I am trying it a Carbon Six barrel on this one.
I am also building myself a 7 saum off a 300wsm Tikka T3X. Love their actions and triggers!

I am in Canada so I can’t really speak to your smithing prices in the US. All I know is due to our shitty dollar right now a Mcmillan Gamescout costs $1300 with the Edge fill! 😳 hence why I went B&C for my stocks.
I feel you on Canadian prices. Anything custom out our way is big bucks and trying to source parts is few and far between

I haven’t done much shooting with it, but I was able to achieve a pretty good grouping (~1 moa) with some run of the mill loads I put together last Christmas. I think the barrel is right under 3 lbs, though I didn’t weigh it. The whole rig is under 8lbs, which is what my goal was. You’ll be happy with your Preferred. I know I’m enjoying it. I will say that mine does seem to be a little pickier with certain bullets, but that could also be me jerking the trigger and my shooting position. I forgot my table and had to use the back of my Hyundai Elantra to shoot on. I’ll get back with you on the accuracy when I go back to the range

Here's my latest.

Chambered in .308 Win
20" PROOF CF barrel (1:10)
Leupold VX3i 4.5-14x40 w/ Talley lightweight rings
McMillan Game Hunter w/ EDGE fill
Mountain Tactical bolt stem/knob and bottom metal
Bolt fluting, cerakoting (H-234 Sniper Grey), and barrel install by Kampfeld Customs

Rifle and scope is 7.5 lbs, suppressor and bipod bring it up to 9 lbs.

Still breaking in the barrel, but I'm hoping it likes the 150gr TTSX because that's what I'm planning on shooting. I have a VX5-HD I might put on here, but I'm trying to keep the weight down for now.

Edit: Updated pics on page 75.
