My old SO BCS. Still going strong.

I don’t see ever using anything other than a tipi and Ti stove combination. This was 4th rifle and it got reasonably cold at night. Maybe 10-15deg. But during first rifle we were much higher and it was much colder. Going to sleep with the stove keeping it warm enough to open up your sleeping bag is priceless.

I did my first burn in my new Seek Outside SXL stove and put up the 6 man I bought used last fall for the first time. Super pumped to have the ability to have a hot base camp option now. This will take my winter adventures to the next level!

Another of the Luxe Megahorn. I bought a Lite Outdoors 18” stove to run in it, but I didn’t have any cold weather on my Breaks hunt...
Hey buddy just curious....was there a reason you didn’t go with the Luxe stove? I’m debating saving the cost and getting a luxe or spend the extra coin and go SO or Kifaru.

The Lite Outdoors 18” stove cost less and weighs less - and it also holds a bit more wood. That’s why I chose it. It works well, although I still haven’t really used it. I like the Megahorn a lot (for the money), but it weighs more than the Seek Outside/Kifaru equivalents. So I figured I would go lighter on the stove...

Does anyone have pics of a tipi set up with a tarp coming off the center pole as sort of an awning?

Tarp awning pictures I have collected because I like the idea as well. Sorry don't remember who's photos they are but not mine. Obviously caution would need to be taken if the wind picks up.

Finally got a tarp for my Cimarron. Ordered a Luxe Polatouche hex tarp. Played with it today while burning in my new SeekOutside SXL stove. Love the setup!

Tarp appears to be very versatile, played with a couple setups how I might want it for glassing Caribou next month in the rain.C44E7295-28D1-4E87-A6D2-4697AB52FD66.jpegView attachment 118274

Running it as an awning, I used a guy line over the back of the tipi per SeekOutside’s recommendation to avoid excess stress. I did for opt not to use the hang loop on top of the Cimarron. Instead it work better to use a bowline on the tie-out that was big enough to sit over the top of the pole. Next outing I will use an extra layer of plastic between to avoid rubbing that could damage the tipi.

I had to pitch the tarp slightly off center to clear the stove jack safely. Just centered it on one 1/2 door.

Perfectly fine in 15mpg winds but wouldn’t want to leave it up unattended or in high winds. Good news it can easily be snugged down closer to the ground in higher winds.

Total setup of Cimarron, Tarp, stakes, lines, carbon center pole and SXL stove weighs 9lb 11.3oz with all the bags and trimmings. I think I can nock some weight off that consolidating bags and reducing tent stakes.

Some of those pics with the canopies are Tentipi Nordic tipis. I'll include a few more here as well.

Also, check us out at https://www.mansfieldoutdoors.com and see some of the new additions to the lineup this year, including half inner-tents, half floors, fleece floors, and more.

This is an Oware 9X9 mid. I usually hammock camp, but I had gotten this cheap on eBay, and wanted to try it out. It's a great mid that's less expensive than Kifaru or Seek Outside (with fewer features of course). I only wish I'd been able to get a larger size because I like using a cot, and a tall cot doesn't quite fit really (it hits the sides).

Jimmy Tarps Hudson with a Lite Outdoors 18" with a 6.5' pipe.

No pic but with the door unzipped, stick 2 trekking poles upside down in the bottom tabs. Position handles on the ground. Boom, big ol awning.
