Well bummer, we never heard from our winner of the Huntin’ Fool Membership.  I even gave him an extra day.  He’s probably busy researching his upcoming hunts and missed the announcement.

So, it’s someone else’s luck day.  If you’re just tuning in, I reviewed Huntin’ Fool’s research service a few weeks ago.  I think they can really help the DIY hunter who doesn’t have a pile of free time to do his own research.  You can see that post here: Research Services—Worth the Cost?  Huntin’ Fool generously donated a one-year membership as they have several times before. This membership gives you a two-week jump on the data published in their hard-copy mag so you can start your research earlier.

For the rest of you, stay close as I’ll be attending the SHOT show in Las Vegas this week.  If you’ve never heard of the SHOT Show, it’s the West’s biggest gathering of outdoor retailers highlighting the latest and greatest to come.  SHOT stands for “shooting & hunting outdoor trade” and describes the event perfectly. It is not open to the public but only to those working in the outdoor insdustry.  This is a rare opportunity to take a peek inside SHOT.

Robby Denning started hunting mule deer in the late 1970’s, only missing one season in 35 years. At 25, he gave up the pursuit of all other big-game to focus on taking the best bucks possible. He began hunting the West on a DIY budget hunting an average of 30 days a year for mule deer. Robby loves the hunt as much as the kill and the entire process from research to scouting to hunting. He’s killed four bucks over 200 inches in the last 15 seasons, mostly on easily-obtained tags.
