Thanks to everyone who entered the drawing for Ben Walter’s “November Below Heart Mountain.”  I heard from Ben this week.  He said the response was terrific and passes his “Thanks” on to the Rok Blog crowd.  If you missed the review on Ben’s book, see Good Read: November Below Heart Mountain

We also received some good comments on that post on how hunting has positively affected the lives of a few hunters.  Good stuff.

Time to do the drawing for the three books Ben donated.  As always, I used random.org and pulled three numbers from the 18 eligible comments.  Here are the winners:

Eric Gobrecht

Tom R.

Jay Clark

All you fellows need to do to claim your books is post up in the comments below and email me within 10 days at [email protected] and I’ll hook you up with Ben to receive your books.

For those who didn’t win, you can order a copy through Ben’s website at Ben Walters.  Let him know Rokslide sent you.

Coming up in January on the Rok Blog: Plan/Research your hunts for 2015, Why I use cementum age analyis in determining the age of bucks I’ve taken, live updates from the 2015 SHOT show in Las Vegas, Nevada, and more.

Robby Denning
Robby Denning started hunting mule deer in the late 1970’s, only missing one season in 35 years. At 25, he gave up the pursuit of all other big-game to focus on taking the best bucks possible. He began hunting the West on a DIY budget hunting an average of 30 days a year for mule deer. Robby loves the hunt as much as the kill and the entire process from research to scouting to hunting. He’s killed four bucks over 200 inches in the last 15 seasons, mostly on easily-obtained tags. He owns a public-land scouting service and runs a private-land outfitting business helping other hunters in their pursuit of deer and elk. Robby has scouted and hunted literally thousands of square miles of mule deer country and brings a wealth of knowledge about these experiences with him. To him, the weapon of choice is just a means-to-an-end and will hunt with bow, rifle, or muzzleloader – whatever it takes to create an opportunity to take a great mule deer. He is also the author of "Hunting Big Mule Deer" available on Amazon. Robby believes all of creation is from God for man to manage, respect, and through which to know its Creator

  1. Can’t believe it. I’m just finishing up Steve Rinella’s American Buffalo book and can’t wait to dive into this one.

  2. Robby, I did not have my name picked, but was sure surprised when I received one of Ben’s book in the mail. Thank you Ben and Robby for this great treasure. I opened up the package, and started reading it before bed. I am truly blessed by your generosity, both of you. Thank you. Bruce Cooper

  3. Hey Bruce, when Ben found out all you do for our wounded warriors, he wanted to make sure you had a copy, too. His hope is that you can find something in “November…” that might help you help someone else.
